What it is that latent in the tobacco, which holds powerful sway over these unfortunate millions? It is an innocent looking eight letter word- nicotine. The more we try to understand it, the more it exhibits its enormous ferocity! It has such a telling effect on the physical and psychological areas of human beings, caught in its net, an individual finds it nearly impossible to free himself from its vice-grip. If we take an all-world picture, the statistics of deaths due to smoking looks like fantasy. But, who will give up smoking on the basis of statistics? They all know it. They desperately want to give up smoking, both from the health point of view and the financial point of view!

The topmost among the New Year Resolutions, is to give up smoking! Every year, for the last several years! Hope you have understood!

Why it is so difficult to give up smoking? Ask nicotine!

Smoking is an addiction. Since tobacco smoke contains this poisonous element, a near-impossible addictive substance to give up, the smoker's plight is not condemnable, but pitiable!

But what is the fault of indirect smokers— the passive smokers? The smokers are providing free passports to them as well. And it is indeed a pity that this white-color crime goes unpunished!

A lot of hypnotherapists, including me, have been successfully using methods of hypnotherapy to help their clients in giving up the habit. The Iowa research has also proven that hypnosis for stopping smoking indeed showed better results than people who had been trying to give it up with no intervention, how else could it’s success rate be double of every method. A lot of smokers who want to quit the habit have failed in their efforts because of lack of will power and determination. However, clients who have used hypnotherapy seemed to set up a stronger example in terms of abstaining and a greater willpower.

Here’s how hypnosis for stopping smoking works- it works on the simple philosophy of positive suggestions. In hypnotherapy, a lot has to do with the power of your subconscious mind and helping it achieve great feats with the help of auto suggestion. When the method of hypnotherapy is used for smoking, it tells you the reasons of why and how you smoke, before moving on to suggestions of how you can stop smoking, and maintain the abstinence. With hypnotherapy you gradually instruct your mind to create positive thoughts, and build willpower in the face of temptations of nicotine and smoke.

You may need to temporarily alter your lifestyle while trying to quit smoking. For example many people enjoy a cigarette with a drink with friends. This social habit can be difficult to break and you may want to avoid any of these pitfalls for a while when you are still in the process of getting over the nicotine habit.
